Privacy Policy
AI Gallery is a photo gallery for Android, made by Cybercodex. It shows your photos and videos, finds them when you describe them, reads the text in screenshots and documents, makes albums, groups places, people and memories, and helps free up space. All of this happens on your phone. Your photos, videos, the words in them, your searches and the faces in your photos are never uploaded, never sent to us and never shared. The app has no accounts and no servers of its own. It is free with ads and an optional subscription, and it uses Google's analytics and crash reports to understand how the app is used. Those services collect some data from your device, described below.
What the app reads, and what it does with it
- Photos and videos (permission "Photos and videos"). The app shows your gallery and runs AI models on your phone to understand each photo, so you can find it by describing it, and to suggest albums, similar shots and blurry photos. The results stay in the app's own storage on your phone. Items you choose to delete go to Android's own Trash, where you can restore them for 30 days.
- Text in photos. The app reads the text in screenshots and document-like photos with Google's ML Kit, on your phone, so you can search it and copy it. The text is stored only on your phone.
- Photo location (permission "Access media location"). The location saved in a photo is turned into a city name on your phone, using a built-in list of places, so you can search "beach in Goa" and see Places. No map service is contacted. The app does not use your own current location.
- Faces (People, off until you turn it on). When you turn People on, the app finds faces in your photos and groups the ones that look alike, on your phone, so you can name a person and find their photos. Face data never leaves your phone and is used for nothing else. Turning People off deletes every face and name the app saved, at once.
- Searches. What you type or say to search is processed on your phone and is never sent to us. If you search in an Indian language written in its own script (for example Gujarati or Hindi), the app translates it on your phone with Google's ML Kit; the first time, ML Kit downloads the language pack from Google, but your search text is not sent. Voice search uses Android's speech recognizer, which may use Google's online service under Google's own privacy policy.
- Albums. Albums, and what the AI learned from your yes/no answers, are stored only on your phone. "Save as phone folder" makes copies of an album's photos in your phone's Pictures folder.
The app's AI index, albums, settings and free-plan counters are stored only on your phone and are excluded from cloud backups.
What is collected, and by whom
- Ads: Google AdMob, and where they are used, AppLovin and Unity Ads, shown only to people without AI Gallery Pro. To show and measure ads, these networks collect your device's advertising ID, your IP address (used to estimate approximate location), device and app information, ad interactions and diagnostic information. This data is processed by each network and, for ad delivery and measurement, may be shared with its ad partners. See How Google uses information from apps that use its services, the AppLovin privacy policy and the Unity privacy policy.
- Google Analytics for Firebase (analytics). We record app events, for example that a search was made, how many results it had and how long it took, that an album was created or the subscription screen was opened, with counts and timings but never your photos, what you searched for, the text in photos, places or faces. Firebase adds an app-instance identifier, the advertising ID where available, general device information and approximate location derived from your IP address. We use this only to improve the app and measure how ads and the subscription perform. See Privacy and security in Firebase.
- Firebase Crashlytics (crash reports). If the app crashes or hits an error, a report with the device model, Android version, app version and the technical details of the error is sent so we can fix it. It carries an installation identifier, not your name.
- Firebase Remote Config. The app downloads its settings, such as free-plan limits and how often ads appear. This uses a Firebase installation identifier and does not collect personal information.
- Google Play (AI Gallery Pro, and the AI model). Google Play handles every payment; we receive a confirmation that a subscription is active, never your payment details. Google Play also delivers the app's AI model files after you install it.
In Google Play's Data safety terms, the app collects device or other IDs, app interactions, purchase history, crash logs, diagnostics and approximate location through these services, for advertising, analytics and app functionality. Photos, videos, the text in them, searches, places and faces are processed only on your phone and are not collected. Everything sent is sent over encrypted (HTTPS) connections. We do not sell your data.
Consent
Where the law requires it, including the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and US states with privacy laws, the app asks for your choice through Google's consent message before ads are personalised. You can change your choice at any time in the app: Library → Settings & privacy → Ad privacy choices.
Your choices
- Permissions: turn photo access off at any time in Android Settings → Apps → AI Gallery → Permissions.
- People: off by default; turning it off deletes all face data.
- Advertising ID: reset or delete it, or opt out of personalised ads, in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads (the exact path varies by device).
- No ads: AI Gallery Pro has no ads.
- Deletion: see Deleting your data.
Children
AI Gallery is made for a general audience and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has used the app and want their data removed, contact us.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top and publish the new version at this address.
